Lamborghini Preparing to Announce New Model

There's a certain level style and performance that Lamborghini is known for, and the Lamborghini Gallardo and upcoming Lamborghini Aventador more than fit the mold. However, the Italian supercar manufacturer is not content with offering only two models here in the United States, and new rumors circulating the web indicate that they may be preparing to announce a third model...one that will break the brand's mold and forge a whole new style.

Many experts in the automotive community are guessing that Lamborghini is preparing to release a crossover SUV, similar to the Cayenne, which certainly could be a far cry away from the low-grounded, performance-driven supercars they're currently known for. Still, the move is not all that surprising, considering the growing popularity or the CUV segment in recent years.

"The aim is to go for a car that you can use every day, not a fun car to use on Saturdays. We want to really stick to our DNA values of extreme and uncompromising," says Christian Mastra, Lamborghini Asia-Pacific Boss. "It will, however, be a genuine high-riding four-wheel-drive. We have the heritage. I think we're the most entitled to have an SUV, more than others."1

Another point that Mastra was quick to make clear is the fact that Lamborghini does not plan to produce hybrid or diesel variants of the new models, and that they'll continue to be powered by the V10 and V12 powerplants drivers know and love. This should perhaps ease the hesitance that some Lambo purists feel about inviting a new, non-supercar model into the lineup.
