You may remember us previously reporting on the decision that Lamborghini to bring the incredible Sesto Elemento concept model into production. The Italian automaker set out to create a supercar the weighs less than 1000 kg (2200 lbs.) and they showed off the result of their efforts at the Paris Motor Show. With that, the collective automotive community had only one thing to say upon wiping the drool from their mouths: BUILD IT!

We here at Lamborghini Palm Beach couldn't agree with this statement more. The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento is based on the ever-popular Lamborghini Gallardo, and its body makes use of a new form of carbon fiber known as Forged Composite. This new material more than meets the weight goal that Lamborghini set for the new model, and it gives it an ultra sleek look that we love.

"It was a technological demonstrator," said Maurizio Reggiani, Lamborghini Research and Development Director. "It was only to say that a car like this can exist."¹ But, after the overwhelmingly positive response that the Sesto Elemento received from fans, the inspiring minds at Lamborghini have decided that a production Sesto Elemento may actually be in our future. There remains who problem though: Making the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento street legal.

See, in attaining the weight goal for the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, the Italian automaker left a number of safety requirements that were left out, such as airbags. Of course, Lamborghini could just skip the whole becoming street legal part, and put the vehicle into limited production. Their current plan is to produce 20 Sesto Elementos and choose their customers wisely. In the end, it's safe to say that the lightweight supercar will likely end up in the hands of private collectors and test-track owners.
