First Lamborghini Aventador Owner Pays Hefty Premium

How much would you be willing to pay to the first person in the world to own the all new 2012 Lamborghini Aventador? While some can wait, others simply need to be the first to get their hands on the Italian supercar, and no premium is too much. Such is exactly the case too for one auto enthusiast in Saudi Arabia, and Lamborghini Palm Beach was both shocked and impressed to learn how much he forked over to be the first owner of this incredible new vehicle.

Dhiaa Al-Essa is the 22-year-old son of a very wealthy business tycoon, whose net worth is around $2.4-billion.  Al-Essa is a supercar collector, owning topnotch vehicles from nearly every notable automaker, so it only makes sense that he would be among the first in line to own the 691-horsepower Aventador. However, to do so required not only some finesse, but also going around some of the more conventional means by which one normally attains a vehicle of this caliber.

No, we're not saying he stole it. Rather, he employed the help of Shaun Williams, a specialty vehicle dealer who "goes around quietly sourcing supercars for the richest people on the planet."1 With Williams' legal help, Al-Essa was able to secure the first production Aventador in the world, though as we noted earlier, it wasn't without a premium.

And how much did he shell out? Something to the tune of $71,000. For Al-Essa, however, this is a small price to pay to own a piece of automotive history and something he's truly passionate about. "I wanted to be the first in Saudi Arabia to get the Aventador. Of course there is competition but for me personally it is not a competition, I just love cars - and if you want to be first you have to work hard and pay more," Al-Essa explains.2

So what do you think? Was that $71,000 worth it? Or is Al-Essa simply wasting his money when he simply could have waited? Feel free to leave us a comment below! Of course, Lamborghini Palm Beach, located at 2345 Okeechobee Boulevard West Palm Beach, FL 33409, still thinks that the best way to come to an informed conclusion is to come take the Aventador for a test drive today!
