Sant\u2019Agata Bolognese, 13 September 2018<\/em> \u2013 Twenty classic Lamborghinis, comprising Espadas and Isleros, gathered on 7 September in Perugia to start the tour organized by Lamborghini Polo Storico in celebration of their 50th anniversary. It was 1968 when the House of Sant\u2019Agata Bolognese presented its first four-seater (Espada) and the evolution of its 2+2 (Islero).<\/span><\/div>\n

The tour route covered almost 800 km, crossing through Umbria, Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna. Some twenty colorful Lamborghinis cruised over picturesque hill routes and through the historic centers of cities full of charm and history such as Perugia, Orvieto and Assisi.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Though every one of the cars was worthy of the utmost attention, there were some that stood out for their particular story or that of the owner, deserving a special mention at the end of the tour by Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lamborghini.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
An award for the car owned the longest by a single owner went to the 1973 Espada Series 3, chassis 9300, purchased as a used car in January 1977 by two English owners. For years it was the only family car, used on a daily basis to go to work and take the children to school. Considered by its owners to be part of the family, it was recently restored and registered for the tour on the occasion of the owners\u2019 golden wedding anniversary.<\/span><\/div>\n

The award for the car driven from farthest away, went to the very rare Espada Series 2, chassis 8386, one of only 12 produced with a VIP fit-out.  The Norwegian crew, who made the round trip from Oslo, traveled a total of 6000 km.<\/span><\/div>\n

The recognition for the car most \u201cfaithful\u201d to Sant\u2019Agata Bolognese went to the 1968 Islero S, chassis 6435, one of the very few equipped with right-hand drive among the total of only 70 Islero S models produced, owned by an English collector.<\/span><\/div>\n

Driven every year from England to Sant\u2019Agata Bolognese for servicing, it was purchased new in 1969 and then passed down to the owner\u2019s son in 1993.<\/span><\/div>\n

Also participating in the tour were two cars from the Lamborghini Museum, an Espada Series 3 (chassis 9090 of 1976) in the color Blu Notte and an Islero (chassis 6330 of 1968) in Rosso Amaranto.<\/span><\/div>\n

Despite the long route and the challenging roads traveled, in addition to the drive to reach Perugia, all the cars arrived in Sant\u2019Agata Bolognese in excellent condition, a further demonstration that the historic 12-cylinders, when properly maintained and driven, continue to be used without particular problems.<\/span><\/div>\n

Lamborghini Polo Storico<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
Based at the company\u2019s HQ in Sant\u2019Agata Bolognese, Lamborghini Polo Storico is the specialized unit dedicated to the restoration and certification of Lamborghini models that have been out of production for at least ten years (from the Lamborghini 350 GT to the Diablo). The division is also in charge of preserving archives and records, and of managing the supply of original spare parts for classic cars.<\/span><\/div>\n

Automobili Lamborghini is committed to producing original spare parts for classic cars, with components covering over 65% of the fleet of classic models and with an increasing number of components reintroduced year after year for a wide range of vehicles, from the 350 GT to the Diablo. Another 200 items were added to the catalogs in 2017 alone.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
