Which Lamborghini convertible is right for you?

Huracan EVO Spyder vs Aventador SVJ Roadster

It’s still early in 2019, and Lamborghini has already unveiled three new models including two convertibles with the Huracan EVO Spyder and the Aventador SVJ Roadster. We thought it only fitting that we explore the differences between these two models with a Huracan EVO Spyder vs Aventador SVJ Roadster comparison.

What is the difference between a Roadster and a Spyder?

We’ve already covered this extensively in a blog post on the Lamborghini convertibles. Put simply, Spyder and Roadster both mean the same thing. To Lamborghini though, a Spyder has a retractable soft top and a Roadster has a removable hardtop.

Which Lamborghini convertible has more power?

If you are familiar with the Lamborghini lineup, then you likely already know that the Aventador is more powerful. Behind the driver, the Aventador SVJ Roadster has a V12 engine that can pump out 770 horsepower. The Huracan EVO Spyder has a V10 that is capable of producing 640 horsepower.

Despite having a much heavier engine, the Aventador SVJ Roadster weighs only slightly more than the Huracan EVO Spyder at 1,575 kilograms. Conversely, the Huracan Evo Spyder weighs in at 1,542 kilograms. The reason the weight difference is so slight is that the Aventador SVJ Roadster relies much more heavily on carbon composites in its construction.

Which Lamborghini convertible is faster?

Since these two Lamborghini models weigh nearly the same, it’s the extra power of the Aventador SVJ Roadster that will help it win this challenge handily. The Aventador SVJ Roadster takes only 2.9 seconds to go from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) and 8.8 seconds to go from 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h). Conversely, the Huracan EVO Spyder has a 3.1-second 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time and a 9.3-second 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) time.
