What is the Lamborghini SCV12 hypercar?

Lamborghini Squadra Corse recently finished development on its track-only hypercar called the SCV12. The vehicle will soon make its official world premiere, sometime this summer, but until then we’ve already gotten a bit of a sneak peek at its appearance and specifications. But first of all, what does SCV12 stand for? Well, the SCV12 is the most powerful V12 vehicle Lamborghini has ever built, and it was developed by Lamborghini Squadra Corse. Squadra Corse V12. SCV12.

Power & Performance

Naturally, most of the facts and figures regarding the SCV12 are still being held close to the chest ahead of the model’s world premiere this summer. However, we do know a minimum threshold on power output. As stated, Lamborghini has claimed the SCV12 is underpinned by the most powerful V12 engine the company has ever made. Along with that, they said that the vehicle will be capable of surpassing a power output of 830 horsepower, “thanks to aerodynamic supercharging at high speed.”

Aerodynamics are, naturally, going to be a big part of a vehicle like the SCV12. They have a strong role in every Lamborghini but considering the GT motorsport expertise that Lamborghini Squadra Corse has, efficient aerodynamics will be more prevalent than ever to be sure. The SCV12 is also expected to deliver higher downforce levels than a GT3 vehicle.

Design Cues

The SCV12 has several design cues that double as performance-enhancing features due to the very aerodynamics we’ve been speaking of. For instance, the front bonnet features a double air intake mated to a central rib, which allows for airflow to be directed to a ram-air intake scoop positioned on the vehicle’s roof. Not only does this make the vehicle look even better, but it increases its power by improving airflow in the engine. Other cues include a front splitter, lateral flicks, vertical fins and a custom-built carbon fiber rear wing.
