We all know that each state has their own laws outside of federal laws. However, some of these are literal weird. Some of them are laws that apply to driving and vehicles. While some of these laws made sense when they were made, they seem hilarious now that they don’t really apply to modern times. So, what are some of the weirdest driving laws in Florida? 1. When tying your elephant to a parking meter, you must still pay the fees. Florida doesn’t care whether you drive a sedan, SUV, or an elephant, as long as you pay for the meter. Parking fees are very serious in the Sunshine State.
2. If you steal a horse, you face the death penalty. We all know that stealing a car can lead to a five year prison sentence and $5,000. However, who knew that stealing a horse would lead to much more extreme consequences.
3. It is illegal to drive over graves in a cemetery. While off-roading and four-wheeling are exciting activities, we suggest avoiding the cemetery while on your adventures.
4. In Sarasota, hitting a pedestrian will cost you $78. While we hope you aren’t going around hitting pedestrians, this fine will cost more than a following too closely fine.
5. You can get a ticket for driving too slowly. Although we often see getting tickets for driving too fast, you can also get a ticket for driving too slowly. If you are driving slower than the flow of traffic, this can endanger other drivers as it blocks the flow of traffic.
